Aoife saidHiya, I love GC but i'm still getting the spam on our synched channel when someone is synching (I'm assuming that's what's happening - loads of code spewing forth in the channel). This occurs whether the person synching is in my guild or not - we've set up a special chat channel to use for GC so we can share info inter-guild.
Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix? thanks!

Mundocani saidBecause it's just a chat channel, you need to use a different name for your alliance's GC channel than you use for the regular shared chat channel. For example, if you use "Megalliance" for your chat channel, use something like "MegallianceGC" for the GC data channel. This will keep the data from showing up in your shared chat.

Aoife saidwe did set up a separate chat channel for GC - the problem is I'm getting spammed to death with the data. Seems no one else is having the problem but me. I just turned off the channel in my chat window, so i can't see any messages i might get. o well.
thanks for the reply.

Mundocani saidIf it's on a separate channel then there's no way it should be showing up in your normal chat channel. That'd be sort of like having /trade messages appearing in /general. I don't know what to tell you to look for because it really is just a matter of whether your GC is set to use a different channel name than your chat channel name. If it is, I can't explain why it'd be showing its data in your chat channel for you but not for anyone else.

shag00 saidJust installed ver 4.1, i get the calender and can see events but when i go to register i cannot access the character drop down, it's just blank. I have several characters, some in different guilds and some unguilded. After about 20 mins the staus remains - waiting for confirmation.
I think I know, GC does not support different characters in different guilds, when that occures GC just spams some code in channel 1.

Mundocani saidGC will support characters in different guilds if those different guilds are using the same shared chat channel.
Not sure what the channel 1 spam thing could be though, I haven't seen that before. Are you using a named channel instead of the guild data channel when it happens? I'm wondering if it's failing to join the named channel and then somehow sending the transmissions to channel 1 instead.

allthingsoil saidSet minimum rank to recruit but still no posted events ( I know for a fact that there should be many). Will try downloading again. Any suggestions?

Mundocani saidMake sure that the rest of the guild is also using the guild data channel, or change yours to the same shared channel they're using (enter the channel name and password) if that's the way your guild is set up.
Also, verify that your status says "Connected" (or "Synchronizing" for the first three minutes after login)

allthingsoil saidhello, downloaded and installed latest version of group calendar. screen comes up when click on clock by mini-map and have done set up (says configured in green) but no dates that my guild had set for raids are coming up on calendar. What should I do?

Mundocani saidIf you're using manual configuration, make sure the minimum rank is set low enough to allow events posted by others to show. I think it currently defaults to Guild Master (I should probably change that :)

Mundocani saidVersion 4.1 is complete and should be available for download here on Curse as soon as it gets approved by the site moderators. You can also grab it from my site in the meantime.
I'm still waiting for a beta key so I can check out the new in-game calendar and decide where Group Calendar fits in with that new addition.

Vanaya saidAnother question: is there any sort of debug mode I can set to see incoming events in either a new chat window or the main chat window? This would help me pinpoint whether I'm receiving them but not showing them, or if they're not being sent out. Thanks.

Mundocani saidCreate a new chat window and name it "Debug" and then do a /reloadui. Group Calendar will see this window and display the channel data as well as diagnostic messages in that window.

Vanaya saidQuestion for the technically minded out there. We have had issues with one of our officers events on the calendar disappearing, though events created by other officers stick around. When he does a rebuild database, events of his sometimes come back immediately and sometimes they're back the next day. One other officer noticed that they thought the config string in guild info looked like it had been changing back and forth between two values. We're all configured for Automatic, but if it is changing, that means that someone is set for Admin.
Could someone tell us if [GC3/C:GUILD,3/H:14] is a valid configuration string for GC4.1b3, or if that is leftover from our previous 3.3.3 setup. What does each of those sections mean anyways? I figure GC3 is the protocol version (that I have heard is still v3 not v4), using guild data channel, but I don't know what the 3/H:14 means.

Mundocani saidThe ,3 is the minimum rank to have events shown (rank 1 is the guild leader) and the H:14 is the number of days of event history to keep (14 days is the default)

m4573r saidFeature request !
I recently discovered that people of my guild were able to share events, even if I've set up the "min rank" to MG1, and the chan to be "guild chan".
It's possible for them to share events if they set the config to "manual", choose "use guilde channel", and then set the dropdown list to the lower rank possible (instead of simply setting the config to "auto").
The problem is then that it messes up my week's organization, with secret lower rank guildmates' events.
Would it be possible that even if the configuration is set to "manual", you check anyway the guild's infos so that this problem couldn't happen (meaning if I decide that only the GM can create and share events, its actually how it will work) ?
*sorry for my english, I hope you'll get what I mean*

Dridzt saidIf you updated from a 3.x to a 4.x version you need to completely exit the game and restart, a simple reloadUI or back to the character selection screen will not do it.
If you did do a full restart and you're still getting green squares (that's textures the addon can't find) then you either got a corrupt download or you unpacked it wrong.
You have to make sure your unpacking program is set to "preserve folder structure" of the archive.
